Your Surgery
![]() |
Once you have been escorted to your pre-operative room, you will be asked to change into a hospital gown. Your pulse, temperature, respiration and blood pressure will be taken. An intravenous (IV) line may be started in an arm or hand vein prior to surgery. |
This IV will provide medications and fluids during your surgery. Once this has been completed, your family member(s) may join you until you are ready to be transported to surgery.
For your safety, you will receive an ID bracelet to wear during your stay. Please be aware that our staff may ask you the same questions multiple times during your time at EOSC for patient identification purposes. These questions include your name, date of birth, the type of surgery you are having and what body part is being operated on.
Your surgeon and anesthesiologist will meet with you prior to surgery to review any questions that you may have. In addition, your surgeon will mark the spot on your body to be operated on. A parent, legal guardian or family member should be available to confirm that the correct body part is being marked, if applicable.
epending on the type of surgical procedure you are having and your current physical condition, you may walk directly from our pre-operative area to the operating room or you may be transported via wheelchair or cart. If you feel you are unable to walk and would prefer assistance, please let us know.
